Objectives

-          Introduction of conflict minerals: background, main actions taken by the international community on the matter, and legislation in the USA.

-          Familiarizing the participants with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and reporting required on conflict minerals, OECD guidelines and other initiatives (e.g. Canada & EU).

-          Introduction to the different mechanisms and initiatives that assist the filing and due diligence requirements of SEC regulations.

-          Providing the participants with knowledge and mechanisms to cope with the SEC regulation.

-          Informing the participants about the effects of the SEC regulation on the supply chain.

Seminar includes

-          Introduction to the subject of conflict minerals.

-          Current status report of the US legislation on conflict minerals and the SEC regulations.

-          Introduction to the OECD guidelines.

-          Clarifications on the difference between Downstream and Upstream companies’ requirements.

-          Practical examples and explanations of the different mechanisms that will allow companies to adhere to the SEC requirements, both for filing and non-filing companies.

-          In-depth description of the due diligence process required of companies with regards to conflict minerals and a step-by-step demonstration of the process.

-          Practical explanation on how to work with CMRT, EICC dashboard and other documents needed in the process.

-          Recommendations & tips for company how to internally cope with the conflict minerals project.

-          Israeli companies’ experience with the conflict minerals project.

-          Elaboration and demonstration of the OECD five steps due diligence process specified in the Guidelines.

EU Conflict Minerals

The European Union (EU) Commission Council and Parliament agreed on a framework for conflict minerals legislation on the 16 June 2016. the EU Parliament had voted for mandatory requirements for the entire supply chain. According to the memorandum of understanding the due diligence requirements will apply only to the upstream portions of the whole supply chain. The European Parliament will vote for formal adoption in the Council for the text to become law, before the end of 2016
